Bye Bye Autumn!

Hello and thank you for taking the time to read my blog today! As you can tell from recent weather it's becoming utterly freezing! Autumn is slipping away and winter is approaching which means snow! Not just snow but Halloween, fireworks, Christmas, presents, interesting prayers and carols to sing. Today I've got loads of things I want to tell you and recommend to you. So of course we have our book and author of the day and they are... Million Dollar Mates and Megan McDonald. Million Dollar Mates is all about a teenage girl named Jess who is having a rather tough time. Her mum is dead, her parents have been split up and to make it worse now she's got to move to a new house with her Dad, brother Charlie and Dave the cat. At first Jess is not at all sure about the change and misses her Gran back at home but when Jess finds out that A-listers will be living in the posh apartments nearby Jess starts to cheer up. But for how long? This book is probably for nine and up and just so you know, the author of the book is called Cathy Hopkins and she is one of the most exciting writers in the world. If you are interested in Cathy Hopkins and her book then visit http://www.cathyhopkins.com/. Click on the link if you wish to access the website. Megan McDoanld is an author that you might have heard of and she is stunning. She writes the Judy Moody series and the Stink series too. I have read some of the Judy Moody's and they are rare (meaning trust me they rock!). I'm reading Judy Moody And The Not Bummer Summer at the moment and I found out that it's the book of the new screenplay! To watch the trailer of the uber cool movie coming out soon search Judy Moody And The Not Bummer Summer Trailer 2011. Another thing to remind you about is that if you want to see some of my older blog posts then scroll down the page and click "Older Posts". Please remember to email me at abbybronte@hotmail.co.uk to get an application form for my new Write-A-Story club or just chat to me about books. Tell your friends, family and anyone else about Readalot so everybody can have a look. Can't wait to write more next time! Abigail Bronte

Be Fearless

Greetings my friends! It's great to finally get to chat to you again. In the title of this post you will see I have put "Be Fearless". The reason I chose that title is because too many people are just reading for the sake of it. Just because your best friend or your ultra awesome cousin is reading a Michael Morpurgo book and you're reading an Enid Blyton book doesn't mean you have to copy them. You read a book because you like it not because people at school or your siblings say it's "cool". Your book might be about a girl, a boy or maybe even a scared dragon who just wants to be reunited with his family. It doesn't matter as long as you enjoy it. Another situation that may arise is picking up a book, reading a chapter and then deciding that you don't like it. Don't worry about it! To be honest I have actually done that myself and just read another book instead. Okay and now it's time for book and author of the day, they are... Judy Moody Goes To College and Charles Dickens. Judy Moody Goes To College is about a girl called Judy who gets into a mood very quickly and gets to meet a tutor who goes to college. But Judy wants to discover college as well! Charles Dickens was a breathtaking author who wrote lots of books including the one and only Oliver Twist. And just a quick reminder, you can join Write-a-story club whenever you like but remember to email me to get your application form. Lots of love, Abigail Bronte

Amazing Authors

Good day everybody! Sorry I haven't wrote a new blog post for a week guys, but today I've got a brand new one for you. Just before I talk about books and authors I just want to remind you that you can email me any time about your favourite things and I promise I will reply. But now it's time to reveal to you my book and author of the day and they are... Oliver Twist and Sue Hampton! Oliver Twist is all about a boy who lives in the victorian times and travels to London to make his fortune. This book is a brilliant tale if you like classics and history. Sue Hampton is a fabulous author who writes tales on real life and fantasy, The Waterhouse Girl is her most famous book and is all about an illness a girl gets. So thats that and next I would like to tell you about Waterstone's which is a delightful bookshop where I like to get my books, there is a wide range of different books so everyone can find something for themselves. Just one more thing, I am going to start a club online called Write-a-story. By joining this club you can get your stories looked at first in the writing competition and write stories, poems and haikus for me to look at. You must email me to receive an application form so you can join. Don't worry all you need to fill in is a made up name and your age. I hope that many of you will join because later on in the year there will be more things to look, learn and do at the club. See ya! Abigail Bronte

New Girl!

Guess what everyone?! There's another new girl on the blogging network like me it's... Taylor Watson! You may see that Taylor has posted a lovely comment on Readalot and that her blog is super fabulous! To access her blog all you need to do is click on the last blog post I wrote, then click on comments and click on her name and then it will take you to her profile so click on Quick Book Reviews. Taylor recommends the Sweet Valley High series which sounds amazing! So check out her fantastic blog! And I have a very important message to the people who are entering the Writing Competition. You are not allowed to write more than 750 words so please don't write more than that. But another exciting thing awaits, it's my author and book of the week! And they are... Kaspar Prince Of Cats and Lyn Gardner! Kaspar Prince Of Cats is all about a boy who works as a sort of bellboy at the Savoy Hotel. But one day a rich lady comes to stay with her beautiful, shiny cat who is named Kaspar and then she sadly dies so the boy looks after Kaspar but for how long? Oh and by the way I'm not telling you the boy's name because it's your quest to find out! Lyn Gardner is a brilliant author who has written lots of books about a girl, Olivia, who goes to stage school and has to try and fit in. I'm afraid that's all for now! Best Wishes! Abigail Bronte

Brillant Bookworms

Hiya bookworms! Had a good weekend? I have! I watched Super 8 at the cinema and it was really good. Have you guys done anything exciting lately? Another thing you should know is that I've made an email so you can all contact me. My email is abbybronte@hotmail.co.uk, so if you want to chat to me or send a shout out just email. My book of the week is... The Famous Five: Five on a Treasure Island and my author of the week is... Narinder Dhami. Famous Five (1) is all about three siblings named Julian, Dick and Anne who go and stay with their Auntie Fanny, Uncle Quentin and George (Georgina). Soon all the children start to bond with each other and of course, George's loving dog, Timothy. But will they find the treasure and loose Kirrin Island forever? Find out in Famous Five! Narinder Dhami is an author who writes lots of books about football which she loves. One of her most popular books is Bend It Like Beckham which I have mentioned before. So that's my opinion but what's yours? Tell me your favourite book and author and I'll feature them in the next one if you like! Oh and I nearly forgot! Keep Reading! Bye-di-byes! Abigail Bronte

Classy Classics

Bonjour! How have you all been? You know, I think old classics like Ballet Shoes are really interesting. Usually those kind of books are made into films and then everyone's desperate to read it! Ask your parents, grandparents and godparents if they have any classics that you could maybe borrow. Another kind of story is comedy. Comedy always involves lots of funny stories for you to enjoy just like books. The other day I got given an electronic dictionary bookmark which is fabulous! So if you don't understand a word you've just read or want to find out the definition then you just type the word in and it comes up with the answer. Why not make your own bookmark?! All you need is a piece of card, a piece of paper, glue or sellotape, some pens, pencils and any other arty things. It would be lovely if any of you could send a photo in of your bookmarks. Having a major crisis? You don't have a book to read?! Then why don't you head down to your local library and take a book out, they always have good books there. Moving on, I have some more details for all the people who are interested in the short story competition. The competition will be in 2012 and the prizes might be a ds game, a book or a voucher for a shop. And the topic your stories must be about is "Friendship". If anybody needs any ideas to get them started I'm happy to help. I will be judging the competition so make me impressed. One thing I like in a story is "wow words" as all the teachers call them. I also like stories with a twist or a massive problem in the middle or that someone finds something exciting. Thats all from me peeps! Abigail Bronte

New month!

Hello! It's a new month and I'm ready to tell you about even more books! Most of you reading this either read chapter books or short story books. But what do the younger ones read? They read picture books and moving story books! Reading to someone else is fun so if you have a brother or sister who can't read like you do yet why don't you read to them. Anyway I have picked another book and author of this week and they are... The Story Of Tracy Beaker and Enid Blyton! Tracy Beaker is all about a girl who lives in a care home (which she calls the dumping ground). She gets up to a lot of mischief and madness but always brightens up everyone's day! Enid Blyton was a fantastic author who wrote probably thousands of books! She wrote many of my favourite series and died peacefully. If any of you would like to get to know me more just take a look at my lovely profile. Does anyone have a shout out for someone special? If so comment and I'll maybe write about you or your special person in my blog. Moving on, school is here soon so I hope everyone's got their ties and shirt ironed! I love that feeling when you go back to school and see all your friends. If you can tell your friends about Readalot or talk about it that would be fabulous! Ciau!(That's italian for goodbye) Abigail Bronte
