Summer Time

Hiya! Okay so Summer has started and if you have free time... READ!

I suppose I should get started with Book and Author of the week. And they are... I'd tell you I loved you but then I would have to kill you and Cathy Cassidy!

I have recently discovered the Gallagher Girls series by Ally Carter and I was blown away! I'm really angry that I hadn't read them before because they are so good ;)

Anyway.. The first book is called: I'd tell you I love you but then I'd have to kill you

Now from that book name I bet you're thinking like...

Huh?

Yeah I was like that too....... lol

The book is about a girl called Cammie who is at a top secret school for spies called Gallagher Girls. Everyone except the students and teachers think it is a rich, snobby boarding school for rich girls.

With new classes and mysterious teachers it's already tough enough but can she handle her newest crisis: Falling in love.

This book will be available at most bookshops but if they don't have it, just head to Amazon.

Check out the GG website now!

I have chosen Cathy as our Author of the week because of her amazing new book! The newest book in the Chocolate Box Girl Series is out now and is called Coco Caramel.

This book is Coco telling the story and after reading it, I definitely think she is the bravest and adventurous of the Tanberry sisters.

Cathy is also a really nice person and oftens is seen signing lots of her fan's books or at book festivals.

Sorry that this has been a small post but I hope to do more soon,
Abby

I'm a HG Geek!!

Hi guys!! It's been a lot time (sorry!), but today I have LOADS to talk about.

Anyway :D Book and Author of The Week are... The Hunger Games and Stephenie Meyer!

Now (hopefully) most of you will have heard of The Hunger Games. It's a trilogy of books by Suzanne Collins. The book is all about 16 year old Katniss Everdeen who lives in District 12 with her family and friends. Every year in each district (by the way there are 12 districts and they are like different sections in their country), there is a thing called 'the reaping'. The whole district are gathered together while Effie Trinket (a hunger games mentor), put her hand in the boxes full of names from boys and girls ages 12-18 . One boy and one girl are chosen every single year and then have to take part in The Hunger Games; a TV show where kids are forced to well... kill each other. The one rule in the games are: Kill or be killed.

When Katniss' sister (Prim) is chosen, she volunteers and her life is turned upside down. But she must stay alive in the arena, for Prim... for everyone she loves.

This book is so fantastic and I have actually become a bit obsessed with it recently. So yeah, I'd classify myself as a Hunger Games Geek!

Notes about this book:
Some people do not like gore and violence, so please don't read this if you think you'll be distressed by it.

There is an excellent movie of the first hunger games book, here is a trailer before you watch it:

Anyway, I really recommend this book and I loved the first one so much that I am now reading the second book in the series.

Stephenie Meyer is the proud writer of the 'Twilight' books. Her books have (like the Hunger Games) become so popular they were made into films.

Facts about her:
The idea of Twilight came to her in a dream on June 2003
She moved to Arizona when she was four years old
Stephenie met her current husband when she was four!!!

Before I go, I'd like to recommend two blogs for you:
tww1.blogspot.co.uk This is a blog about animals written by the brilliant Lilly Abott
http://acelebsprofile.blogspot.co.uk/ This blog is written by Luna Scotch and Faye Cinders :) By the way, if you find them on blogger you can check out their cooking blog as well.

Thanks!

March Has Come!

Hi Readers! Sorry about not posting a lot, I have been a bit un-organised!

Today's Book and Author of the day are... Wonder by R.J.Palacio and Cathyrn Constable!

Wonder is a book written by R.J.Palacio. It won the Waterstone's Best Book Award and is globally very famous.

This book is all about a little boy called August whose face is slightly different to others. It's about his adventure into middle school; the friends and foes he makes, decisions and disappointments. The book is in parts, so lots of the main characters have their own sections in the story.

It's a story about hope and kindness, and it's one I recommend to all. It's the best book I've read in a long, long time and it will probably get the Champion Readalot Book Prize at the end of the year.

Cathyrn Constable is a novelist who has written many books such as Wolf Princess. I gather she is quite a new author but let's just say, we can expect A LOT from her. Her words in her story 'Wolf Princess' are imaginative and gripping.

Also check out a friend of mine's blog: http://www.runrunrunway.blogspot.co.uk
It's a fashion blog with lots of cool stuff for you to check out

This week I've come up with a new section of the blog called: Story Ideas.
I will be posting things like pictures, word banks and opening sentences to help you spark ideas.

Word Bank: Seaside, crazy, flowing, red, dazzling, shining, beach hut.
Sentence opener:

"No!" cried Janie.
But it was too late. Justin had gone.

So far NO ONE has entered the Haiku contest :( So please, please spread the word about it :)

Please follow Readalot on Twitter: @Readalot_Blog

By the way, I hope you like the new Readalot title!!

Lots of love,

New Stuff :)

Great news: Readalot now has a twitter page!!!!

On the right side over there ------------> is a button you can click that takes you straight to our Twitter Page! So far, we have six lovely followers, and I'm hoping for more soon!

I'm still working on a logo for Readalot and I am also thinking about a Facebook page for Readalot. What do you think? Comment below x

I have also been making another website (via Wordpress) which is rather plain at the moment (because Wordpress can be expensive). I will showing you that soon. But I am also considering making another blog on here, but I'm still going to keep Readalot (of course lol!). If you have any ideas for a blog, comment or email me at abbybronte@hotmail.co.uk
